Friends and colleagues,
I am pleased to offer this month's President's Message and share that we have had several successes in the latter half of 2018.
Thanks to the generosity of our annual & event sponsors as well as a thriving Programs Committee, we have been able to host a full schedule of events since May including: June Summer Fun at The Foundry, where CoreNet members & friends celebrated the summer at one of the best new farm-to-table restaurants on Pittsburgh's North Shore. In August, CoreNet Pittsburgh was pleased to feature BHDP's Dominic Iacobucci and Mark Chachula for a highly interactive morning session, Activating Underutilized Real Estate, looking at a case study of common space type as well as defining utilization and discussing measurement techniques & metrics for success. In September, we were thrilled to be included in the University of Pittsburgh's Career Fair by providing several speakers for a panel discussion on Corporate Real Estate. Among these panelists were CoreNet Members: David Thor (Education & University Relations Director), Rachelle Vopal, and Jim Winter (Chapter President).
October brought our signature charitable event, Pink Pong. The 2nd Annual CoreNet Pittsburgh Ping-Pong Tournament supported breast cancer research at Magee-Women's Research Institute through A Glimmer of Hope Foundation at Ace Hotel Pittsburgh. The event featured friendly competition, raffle opportunities, custom ping pong paddles designed by local artists, pink hair extensions, and CoreNet Cosmos. Thanks to our sponsors and participants, we were able to offer a generous gift for the second year to our friends at A Glimmer of Hope Foundation! Thank you to event sponsors: HLWE, IST Management, The Shannon Wilson Charitable Fund, and Colliers International Pittsburgh. Congratulations to our winners: 1st Place - Tom MacDonald, 2nd Place - Adam Murphy, and 3rd Place - Michael Connor.
Next up: On November 28, CoreNet Pittsburgh will host our annual holiday party, Jingle & Mingle. Gather with CoreNet Pittsburgh members & friends as we celebrate the season with an evening to connect over food, drinks and live music by Nameless in August. A mere stone’s throw from Market Square’s Holiday Village, join us at Jingle Bar on Forbes, the former Pizzuvio restaurant, as it is transformed into a pop-up seasonal bar that will “deck the halls” with holiday-themed food, drinks, & décor! Thanks to Event Sponsor: Desmone Architects. See registration link HERE, and please plan to join us.
CoreNet Global Pittsburgh Chapter has identified a 2019 Leadership Board and will look forward to announcing new committee members at the November 28 Holiday Party.
CoreNet Global Pittsburgh Chapter is pleased to complete its work in 2018 with an engaged and growing Leadership Board. We encourage all members to consider a leadership role within CoreNet and to identify where your interests might lend to your increased engagement.
