Message from the President

Friends and colleagues,

Happy New Year! Thank you to those who attended our SOLD OUT November Annual Holiday Party at Jingle Bar. It was a great evening to connect and celebrate the holiday season.

2018 was a successful year for CoreNet Pittsburgh. We offered a variety of programs including a career panel for students, a session and tour focused on technology and design trends, and our 2nd Annual Pink Pong Tournament. Thanks to our generous participants and sponsors, we were able to raise over $1,000 for A Glimmer of Hope Foundation, benefitting breast cancer research. As we wrap up 2018, I am especially grateful to Jim Winter (HLWE) for his service as President over the past two years. Thank you, Jim!

For 2019, we are planning events focused on blockchain and cryptocurrency, safety and security, and industrial corporate real estate assets. In addition, we are already busy planning our 3rd Annual Pink Pong Tournament for October! I am very pleased to share that we have recently added 24 student members in our CoreNet Pittsburgh chapter. I would like to extend a special welcome to these newest members. In addition, I am thrilled to announce that John Beggy (PNC) will be transitioning into the President-Elect role in 2019. John previously served as Membership Director in 2018.

My priority as President this year is to focus on member value, ensuring that each of you finds in CoreNet a forum where you can learn, connect with others in the corporate real estate industry, and have fun. Please feel free to reach out to me directly with feedback or ideas: robin.k.alexander@gmail.com, or (302) 598-1060.

Additional Leadership Updates:

Eric Bitar (Pittsburgh Regional Alliance) returns as Programming Director, Ryan Broze (BDO) will continue his role as Communications Director, and Jennifer Ewing (Civil & Environmental Consultants) continues as Board Secretary. Special thanks to Tom Schneider of CliftenLarsonAllen LLP for his generous service to CoreNet Pittsburgh as our most recent Treasurer. Tom will be rolling off of the 2019 Board of Directors. Exciting additions to the Board include: Rachelle Vopal (First National Bank) Membership Director, Jim Ambrose (Desmone Architects) Education & University Relations Director, and Justin Gartner (BDO), Treasurer. Continuing as sub-committee members and/or Members At Large are: Amy Chapman (Thermo Fisher Scientific), Emily Mocilan (KMA & Associates), Anne Murgel (PNC), David Thor (JLL), and Jim Winter (HLWE).

CoreNet Global Pittsburgh Chapter is pleased to continue its work in 2019 with an engaged and growing Leadership Board.  We encourage all members to consider a leadership role within CoreNet and to identify where your interests might lend to your increased engagement.
